The Orange Curriculum.

The Orange Curriculum is a Sunday school curriculum that Andy Stanley’s church, North Point, created. It has since become a separate ministry organization, but North Point leadership provides the mainstay speakers at the Orange Conference, implying a partnership and influence by Andy Stanley’s church. The curriculum is based on Luke’s words about Jesus in Luke 2:52: “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” Orange has taken verse 2:52 and turned it into “252 Basics.” It teaches a liberal moral system with some of the Bible attached, not biblical teachings or Bible study. Orange is more focused on moralistic teaching than proclaiming the gospel, and it promotes progressive ideas. Remember, the false teacher/teaching modus operandi is to mix error with truth so it’s less detectable. Children will not be given any foundation in their faith but will be taught blatant false doctrine in some of their lessons. The programs under the umbrella of “Orange” include:

  • First Look (for preschool age)

  • 252 kids (for elementary school age)

  • XP3 middle school

  • XP3 high school

Andy Stanley

This curriculum comes from the heretical church of Andy Stanley. Take a look at what’s happening with Andy Stanley:

Two Pastors Drop Major Bombshell Allegations Against Andy Stanley After Attending Private Q&A (article) - megachurch Pastor Andy Stanley affirming? Ryan Visconti was interviewed to get his side of the story. Andy did tell two gay men they should get married. Tune in to this episode and listen to Ryan's eyewitness testimony.

Andy Stanley’s Half-Gospel by Michael Clary (article) - The problem with the Andy Stanley/North Point approach to LGBTQ sins is that they are treated as a special, protected class of unrebukable sins. Pastor Stanley speaks as though his way is more loving, but it isn’t. Withholding from people the grace of repentance isn't loving, and yet repentance is absent from Pastor Stanley’s message.

Andy Stanley Separates God Of Old Testament From God Of New Testament by Grayson Gilbert (article) - Stanley is fond of unhitching from the Old Testament and seemingly to the historic faith. He affirms that we need to stop mixing the old with the new – because the blended model is responsible for all the ills of Constantine, the Crusades, the Reformation, and so forth.

Problems with Andy Stanley by Michelle Lesley (webpage) - list of several articles explaining issues with Stanley’s teachings.

Teacher to Avoid - Andy Stanley by Wandering Pilgrims (webpage)

A Dire Warning to Andy Stanley: The Looming Millstone of Divine Judgment (article) - The core of the issue here is that leading others—especially impressionable children—into sin isn’t just unloving. It’s spiritually criminal. And many have made an enterprise out of it. As defenders of the faith, we must rise against such corrosive teachings with the unyielding truth of God’s Word.

Revoice, Living Out, Side B, And Gay Christians (webpage) - Unbiblical sexual theology is rampant in the Christian church today. The jargon used to describe this unbiblical teaching is: Side B, Revoice, Gay or Same-sex attracted Christian, Living Out, Revoice, The Center for Faith, Sexuality & Gender, Reformation Project. When you hear or read these terms, know the author, teacher, or organization is teaching a false view of biblical sexuality. Learn the terms.

In 2018, megachurch pastor Andy Stanley came under fire for suggesting that, as New Testament Christians, we should “unhitch” ourselves from the Old Testament. At times, Stanley seemed to be walking back his comments. In contrast, Stanley’s confusing comments about homosexuality and LGBTQ inclusion have left many Christians wondering if Stanley is sliding into progressive Christianity. It’s time to put Stanley into the category of mark and avoid.

Andy Stanley embraced homosexuality as more than just an acceptable orientation for Christians in his Oct 1, 2023 sermon at North Point Church. Stanley is a well-known name in evangelicalism, and his father, Charles Stanley, was a key leader during the Southern Baptist Convention's Conservative Resurgence. This new position marks a shift.

Here is the long-awaited response to Andy Stanley's LGBTQ sermon at the Unconditional Conference. We go in-depth with what exactly Stanley said in his sermon about Christianity with LGBTQ issues and "identities" and his statement that Rosaria Butterfield and Dr. Christopher Yuan, who have an abundance of wisdom on this topic, have nothing to say to parents struggling with their kids' LGBTQ "identities."

Is megachurch Pastor Andy Stanley affirming? Ryan Visconti was interviewed to get his side of the story. Andy did tell two gay men they should get married. Tune in to this episode and listen to Ryan's eyewitness testimony.

Articles About Orange

Founder of Orange Conference Resigns After Confessing Adultery with CEO (article) - Reggie Joiner, the founder of the Orange Conference, has resigned from his role at Orange after confessing he’s been having an affair with another leader. Before starting Orange in 2006, Reggie was one of the founders of North Point Community Church with Andy Stanley and was the primary family ministry leader at North Point Community Church. As the executive director of Family Ministry, Reggie developed the concepts of ministry for preschoolers, children, students, and married adults over his years with the church.

Is the “Orange” curriculum safe for Sunday School? by Amy Speeman (article) - two things to ask yourself when selecting a curriculum for any church program or ministry: Does it teach the Bible as authoritative, sufficient, and inerrant truth? What is the theology and background of the authors?

Mark and Avoid: Orange Kids Church Curriculums by The Wandering Pilgrims (article) - Andy Stanley endorses this curriculum, and TD Jakes, another person, is NOT to follow due to false teachings.

I Have Concerns About Orange by Answers in Genesis (article) - their description of the gospel is very vague. Yes, it says that Jesus’ death and resurrection offer redemption, but how? Well, by “accepting” the free gift—but what does that mean? How do you “accept” the gift of salvation? It is essential to explain repentance and trusting in Christ alone, but that language is missing from their “What We Believe” page, leaving it too vague. They make it sound like it’s something we do. But the truth of the gospel is what Christ does for us.

How Sunday Schools Are Raising the Next Generation of Secular Humanists by Natasha Crain (article) - Sunday schools are doing very little to offer a solid response to counter the cultural narrative, and what they are doing is actively contributing to kids walking away from the historic Christian faith to secular humanism. What can be done?

Homeschooling vs. Public Schools and the Importance of Christian Education (webpage) - The present is a time not for ease or pleasure but for earnest and prayerful work. A terrible crisis unquestionably has arisen in the Church. In the ministry of evangelical churches, hosts of those who reject the gospel of Christ are to be found. By the equivocal use of traditional phrases and the representation of differences of opinion as though they were only differences about the interpretation of the Bible, entrance into the Church was secured for those hostile to the very foundations of the faith.

The Orange organization may be the most influential organization you’ve ever heard of regarding church curriculum for the next generation. According to the Orange website, they have 10,000+ partner churches, influence over 1 million kids and teens annually, and serve over 80 denominations. There have long been concerns that this widely used curriculum focuses more on so-called good values than on the Gospel and is becoming increasingly progressive. This episode focuses on three recent events demonstrating concern—particularly about progressivism.

In this eye-opening podcast episode, Elizabeth Urbanowicz analyzes the effectiveness of the famous Orange Curriculum and discusses the pitfalls of proof-texting moral lessons. We'll even look at scripture-based alternatives to the Orange Curriculum.

The Orange Curriculum is a leading voice in shaping the emerging generation. Thousands of churches have adopted its Sunday school curriculum. This episode explains the framework and teaching philosophy behind it and reads through the recent announcement of the theme of the 2022 annual conference. Does it reveal a more overt creep of Progressive Christianity into Orange? The leaders of three central apologetics ministries respond. Featuring Alisa Childers, Natasha Crain, Monique Duson, and Krista Bontrager.

From the team at Answers in Genesis ministry, this curriculum brings the Bible to life and addresses the real-life issues confronting Christians today. Teachers and students alike will thoroughly understand the teachings and relevance of Scripture, starting with Truths for Toddlers, where young children explore who God is and learn of his plan of salvation. All ages are equipped to defend their faith, becoming conformed to the image of Christ as they learn to apply God’s Word in their everyday lives.

Research shows two-thirds of young people walk away from the church. That usually means they are walking away from the beliefs of their parents, too. Could Sunday school be part of the problem?

Students will learn:

  • The Bible is Trustworthy

  • God’s Redemptive Plan

  • God’s Attributes

  • The Bible is Chronological & Historical

  • Life Application

For almost 30 years, the Answers in Genesis ministry has held firm in the truth of God’s Word, affirming the authority and reliability of the Bible. They have never wavered nor capitulated to the cultural trends of the day, as many organizations and pastors have.

Christian parenting is hard work—and it's getting more complex. Parents have a deep desire to pass on their faith but fear that today's increasingly skeptical and hostile world will eventually lead their kids to reject the truth of Christianity.
This practical and timely resource gives parents the confidence to know what to discuss with their children and how to discuss it to facilitate impactful conversations that will form the basis of a lifelong faith. In a friendly, parent-to-parent voice, Natasha Crain identifies 30 specific conversations about God that parents must have with their children, organizing them under the categories of

- the existence of God
- science and God
- the nature of God
- believing in God
- the difference God makes

Chapters are sequenced in a curriculum-oriented way to provide a cumulative learning experience, making this book a flexible resource for use in multiple settings: homes, church classes, youth groups, small groups, private Christian schools, and homeschools. Every chapter has a step-by-step conversation guide with discussion questions and tips, and the content is readily adaptable for use with kids of any age (elementary through high school).
